Zinesters Owen, Roan, and Cassius

Minecraft histeria spreads throughout the school, while a pair of innovative fourth graders create guides for fans of the online game.

Cassius and Roan started the Newsboys zine in 2011.  The summer issue above features the winner of a photography contest, and folks from their neighborhood.  The classroom library now includes a zine shelf, so check-out what former 3rd graders are up to.

Week 17 Wrap-Up

Thomas' illustration for "mixture"

After Thanksgiving, we're in the fall homestretch.  The students are finally in the publishing stage after weeks of research.  In social studies, we're exploring the influence of ancient Greece, including democracy, architecture, and the Olympics.  Following a geometry unit, measurement is next.  On Friday, we walked around the school to get a feel for just how far a mile is.  The class is sharpening their detective skills as they search for context clues to determine the meaning of unknown words in reading/language arts.

  • Visit our Zine Library in the hall to learn about habitats around Georgia, and how to zines that showcase a variety of talents.
  • Thanks to everyone who contributed to this year's can-a-thon.
  • Tuesday evening, students need to report to their homerooms at 6:10 for the winter musical.  See you there!
