The Force Awakens at Chase Street

This year's field day theme is Star Wars. The day begins with young Jedis wielding light sabers during a game of tag.

The plunger relay somehow relates to the Death Star.

The class cools and refuels with some intergalactic ice pops.

Ella masters levitation during Jedi training in the gym. Yoda is impressed.

During the sponge relay, classmates assume the role of BB-8 and R2D2 as they transport dark matter.

The intergalactic graffiti station is strategically placed so everyone can dry off and relax in the sun. Who knew dark matter evaporates?

The ultimate battles of the day are classic tug-o-war matches.

Technology and creative play are new (albeit less physical) additions to field day this year. Directors and puppeteers create Star Wars shadow puppet scenes and snap photos with iPads.

Vivi and others use the force to remove some snow before constructing Echo Base. No Tauntauns were harmed.

Next is the Jawa water race on Tatooine.

Exhausted AT-AT Walkers move slowly across the barren soccer field (or go fast and crash to the ground like they have snow speeders attacking them).

The last station is a dizzying crash landing relay.
