Madison folds origami during the bus ride to this year's YMCA Track and Field day, where 2nd and 3rd graders compete in a range of events. Thanks again to Coach and the Chase Street PTO for making it all happen!
Lincoln and Kr'eme explore unusual creatures.
Lillian's tongue spends most of its time outside of her mouth some days (especially when she runs).
Jack gets cornered in the back.
Ben's off...
Niko and Maya seem to float above the rubber track.
Sa'riyah launches another softball.
Tyrus freezes.
Go Lincoln!
Jack tests his endurance.
Batiste keeps a smile.
Carl waits for the next event perched atop the bleachers.
Trinity, Madison, and Isadora's javelins soar.
Kr'eme shares laughs and an early lunch with Gakadein and Aley.
Niko rests after the mile.
Does Maya's javelin touch the stratosphere?
Madison and Isadora practice the long jump (then the short sit).
The distance of Lillian's throw is directly related to the distance she runs before releasing the ball.
Between events, some folks play a little bocce ball.
If rolling down a grassy field was an event, our class would win gold every time.
Tyrus and Thad run neck and neck.
The power trio takes a break.
Am I seeing double?
Gakadein eyes the runner next to him.
Isadora and Tyrus run alongside and cheer Sa'riyah on.
The relay teams prepare (and pose).
Gakadein hands off the baton...
and Trinity hands it off to Isadora...
who hands it off to Madison.
This is the last YMCA Track and Field Day for these 3rd graders, so the awards ceremony is bittersweet.
